As I was looking through some pictures I’ve taken this spring, this one of a lonely forsythia popped off the screen. It’s on the block I walk to get from my office to our childcare center across the way. I’ve been waiting to see what would flower first in this yard tucked behind the green shoulder-high fence. I was excited to see the bright yellow flowers; the very next day they were covered in snow and sleet.
The few times I’ve seen someone working on the gardens I’ve made sure to say how beautiful it is; it blooms from spring through the fall, amazing! Finding an oasis like this in the middle of a busy city is rare. Today is a thank you for all the city gardeners who make our lives more beautiful.
